Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Bensenville, IL listening to planes from O’Hare fly overhead.  

Who are your favorite authors?

There are so many amazing authors.  It makes it hard to choose just a few.  But if I was trapped on a deserted island for a few weeks (because I don’t know if I could stand it for longer), I’d bring along books by Stephen King, JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts), Harlan Coben and Lois Lowry. 

Do you still teach singing?

YES!!! I love singing. More important, I love teaching. My students are wonderful sources of inspiration and continue to teach me about life while I teach them about singing.

What would you do if you weren’t writing?

I’d take a shot at being a superhero. Leaping tall buildings with a single bound sounds like an interesting challenge. However, if all the capes and tights are spoken for I’d still be teaching voice lessons and thinking about how I could fit some shows into my schedule.

Favorite Food?

Popcorn with lots of salt and butter.

Diet Pepsi!

Do I have a pet?

I have a very loud cat named Jake and a squirrel that I have named Oliver.  Okay – the squirrel isn’t technically a pet, but he comes to the back door to beg every day and I feed him.  That makes him special.  (And why do I call him Oliver?  I’m a musical theater girl.  That should be all the answer you need.)
